Focus Areas and approach
Our Key focus areas include proactive infrastructure design, advanced technology integration, and addressing high-risk behavior
Our approach includes
- Research
- Education and Capacity Building
- Evaluation of New Technology
- Policy Development and Advocacy
- Consultancy
- Public Awareness Campaigns
Capacity Building
We provide Capacity Building programme aim to improve and enhance road safety knowledge and to strengthen capability of road policing agencies to enforce laws relating to primary road safety risk factors. These include:
Strengthening the capability of the road traffic police to enforce traffic laws is fundamental to deterring road users from violating the laws, to reduce harm and to reduce inappropriate and unsafe behaviors on the roads.
NAHTS is providing professional knowledge relating to road safety enforcement – based on recognized international best practices – to build and sustain high-quality policing activities for the improvement of road safety in Cameroon
All knowledge and policing practices are tailored to the local context within to allow for flexibility in their application by local police.
Our Research
Research and policy centers dedicated to car and road safety operate globally to reduce traffic-related fatalities through multidisciplinary investigation, data analysis, and strategy development. We bridge the gap between academic research and real-world policy by collaborating with governments, industry partners, and international bodies to implement evidence-based safety standards.
We conduct research on road safety and take a holistic view of the road transport system and the interactions of its various elements to create a road transport system in which human mistakes do not result in death or serious injury.
Public Awareness Campaigns
NAHTS is actively involved in road safety campaign and training sessions to improve traffic safety and create inclusive, safe and sustainable streets.
The campaigns were focused on the promotion of road safety related issues, including speed limit compliance, sober driving, use of seat belts, non-use of mobile phones, safety of pedestrians and other vulnerable road users
Campaign also includes providing capacity-building support to the government in areas. Legislation on urban speed limits and child restraint systems
Design Multi-faceted approach, roadside barriers, and traffic management systems that mitigate human error. Analyzing human factors, driver behavior to advance mobility safety

Consultancy
We provides expert advice to governments, conducts at-scene crash investigations, and performs vehicle impact testing to inform road safety policy and infrastructure design. Conduct multidisciplinary research aimed at eliminating serious injuries in the transport system.
NAHTS Provides information and recommendations to the government and industry, based on in-depth investigations of numerous real life crashes, and provides fundamental information for Translating statistical data from crash investigations into actionable regulations and legislative standards and road-user safety strategy engineers.
NAHTS conducts in-depth, real-world accident investigation to provide data-driven recommendations for legislators and industry. Focus on providing advisory services to bridge the gap between industry, regulators, and policymakers.
Capacity Building
Policy development & advocacy
Policy development and advocacy are key uses of outputs derived through our research program within the context of the vehicle safety-related strategic priorities found in the national and jurisdictional road safety strategies,
We Advocates for consumer-focused safety regulations, maintains a database of vehicle defects, and pushes for effective recall campaigns and law enforcement.
NAHTS Pursues policies and standards that will prevent and mitigate the major causes contributing to motor vehicle crashes, proposes legislative solutions, analyzes issues, conducts research and develops strategies that prevent motor vehicle crashes, save lives, reduce injuries, as well as to promote adoption of proven and cost-effective safety measures.
We plays a leadership role in developing legislative and regulatory policies, expanding public understanding of highway and auto safety issues, and encouraging actions to reduce the human and economic costs of motor vehicle crashes.
. Used Car Safety Ratings Research Program Policy Papers are a key output of the policy development and advocacy research theme which assist in translating technical outputs into policy and practice. Issues addressed have included topics such as vehicle safety technologies in the area of vehicle safety.
Evaluating advances technology integration
Research concerned with monitoring and evaluating advances in vehicle safety performance is vital to realize the road safety benefits than can be gained for safer vehicle choices.
NAHTS is recognized as a leader in crash reconstruction analysis, detailed injury information as well as safety countermeasures for each identified crash contributing factor and injury causation risk factor. We are experienced in handling sensitive information with rigorous data protection procedures to ensure security and confidentiality. Through collaboration along with our staff expertise in data analysis, allows us to provide the most relevant and accurate safety ratings. We can also analyze past patterns, forecast future trends, and investigate topics of interest, including: primary safety; the effectiveness of new vehicle technologies; and cross-sectional or longitudinal vehicle safety performance of the fleet.
Major research undertaken by NAHTS focused on vehicle safety monitoring and evaluation and is based on the analysis of real world crash risk and injury outcomes and roadworthiness data compiled by government agencies across Cameroon.
